Life Legacy

ALLEN, Winifred C., 88, of Sebring, Fla., went to be with the Lord December 11, 2010. "Winnie," the name used by those who knew her, was born in Brooklyn , N.Y., and grew up in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She visited balmy Miami, Fla., 55 years ago and never returned. She loved the warm weather and beaches and spent many saturdays at the beachside in Hollywood ,Fla. Winnie moved to Sebring in 1983, and attended First Baptist Church of Sebring, where she lent her artistic talent and organizational skills where needed. She also took classes in ceramics, and often gave her works to friends as gifts. Musically inclined, she loved playing the organ and participated in local organ clubs in the Sebring area. Winifred is survived by two daughters and a son, Carolyn Melf of Paradise , Calif., James Davis of Davie, Fla., and Robin Mascari of Fort Worth, Texas; and a grandson, Matthew James Davis, a graduate student at Florida State University. A memorial service will take place Saturday, January, 15, 2011, at Morris Funeral Chapel, 307 S. Commerce Ave, Sebring. Interment was at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Avon Park beside her husband, Alfred H. Allen, who passed away in 1999.
