Life Legacy

Mary Irene Dunn McIntosh, 77, of Sebring was received into the arms of our Lord, on April 7, 2013 in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Mary was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on May 25, 1935. She was from a proud Irish family. She attended St. Jerome Catholic School from kindergarten through high school. In 1953 she married her beloved husband Jerry. This woman from a small city was not afraid of what this vast world had to offer. She jumped in to travel the world in 17 places including living in Madrid, Spain with her husband and family. Mary had the uncanny ability to acclimate quickly to other surroundings and cultures. She had the amazing ability to quickly pick up foreign languages and accents. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and upbringing. She believed that with God, all things are possible. She had faith that could move mountains that she tried to instill in her children, telling them that the power of our Lord and the Blessed Mother would guide them through their lives. She loved to sing and had the voice of an Angel. She loved to cook and was very good at it. Mary worked many jobs in her life, including pharmacy, bookkeeping, real estate, and medical office management. However, she considered motherhood her supreme duty. A good portion of Mary’s life was spent in the north east, in Upstate New York. In 1987, she and Jerry moved to Florida, she often referred to it as paradise.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Dunn of Chicopee, MA, survived by her husband Jerry J. L. McIntosh, of Sebring; Sister Elaine Rud of Holyoke, MA; Brothers Edwin Dunn and wife Judy, of Holyoke, MA, and William Dunn and wife Donna of Bridgewater, MA; Five daughters, Pamela McIntosh and husband David Martin, of Arcadia, FL, Susan Jansen of New York, Mary K. Barkamian and husband Armen of Melrose, NY, Sharon McIntosh Ryan, and husband Bob Peters, of Tampa, FL, Melissa McIntosh, of Sebring, FL; Grandchildren Nelson, Amber, David, Cecilia, Ryan, Nishan, Tatios, Raffi, Mac, T.J., Corrissa, Melissa, J.R., Justin, James, Joshua, Alyssa, Cathy, Christy, and Carey; Great-Grandchildren Roxanne, Zoey, Marianna, Emma, Jeremiah, Jonathon, Alexzander, Elayna, Jacob, Ariah, Amber, and Angel. She also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a great source of support and inspiration to her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was our rock carrying all of our confidences and burdens on her shoulders. She gave us all unconditional Love and inspired us all to be the best that we could be. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

In lieu of flowers the family will be planting a memorial garden in Mary’s name, donations may be made through a florist of your choosing of live plants able to be planted and sent to Pam McIntosh, 6019 S.W. Hill Street, Arcadia, Florida 34269.
