Life Legacy



MEEKINS, KAREN L., 68, of Sebring, FL, went to our Lord on April 22, 2011. She was born in Manhattan, NY. She moved to Sebring in 1986. She and her late husband Thomas Meekins, who passed in 2007, established the Mobility Express of Sebring in 1995. Karen, through her involvement with Peace River and Rape Crisis Center, was instrumental in the creation of the Sebring Safe House. Karen was a prior president of the Lady’s Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association Heartland Branch 173. She was a board member and committee member of the Military Sea Services Museum of Sebring. Karen was also a member of the Sebring Chamber of Commerce. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Meekins. She leaves behind her loving family, sons, Daniel Meekins and Michael J. Meekins both of Sebring, Michael Andrew (Darlene) Meekins, Merritt Island, FL, Thomas Meekins, Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Cheryl Meekins, Morris Plains, NJ; eight grandchildren. Visitation, 5-7 pm, Friday at Morris Funeral Chapel and Saturday, 10:00am to 11:30am at Emmanuel Church of Christ on Hammock Road with Services to follow at 11:30 am. Entombment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park. A luncheon will follow at Inn on the Lakes at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Church of Christ Music Fund, 3115 Hope St., Sebring, FL 33875. Arrangements by: Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring.
