Life Legacy

Vivian Travers died in her home on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2017, after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson’s disease. She was lovingly cared for by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Jim Travers. Vivian was a lifelong resident of Sebring. She was born Aug. 27, 1946, to Joel and Ruth Sharp. She graduated from Sebring High School in 1964 where she was a cheerleader. Hers was a life spent loving and caring for her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and friends were her love and joy. She loved music and would loudly burst into song to all her favorite tunes and she would often break out into accompanying dance. She had a crazy and sometimes outrageous sense of humor that withstood the test of illness. Near the end, it was only her eyes that showed the humor but she never lost it.
Vivian is reunited in heaven with her father and mother, Joel and Ruth Sharp, her in-laws, Russ and Avice Travers, and her sister-in-law, Laurie Travers, where she will be baking the Thanksgiving pies with her new and glorious body.
“Vivi” has left behind her beloved husband and love of her life, Jim Travers. She is also proudly survived by her children and grandchildren, who she could often be heard bragging about: daughter Selena (husband Clint, children Brittany and Clint Jr. and Jaymee); son J.D. (wife Kari, children Sierra, Baily and Cole); sister Anne Larman, two nieces she considered her other children, Michele Possneti and Mindy Sassman, and tons of other brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews in the “Travers Clan.”
All that loved and touched by the life of Vivian are invited to attend a memorial service at Morris Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Oct. 21, 2017 at 307 S. Commerce Ave. in Sebring. We will reminisce, cry, support each other grieve and of course, laugh because that is the way Vivian would have wanted it.
In lieu of flowers, Vivi would want you to take a friend to lunch, go visit your grandchildren, buy a bottle of wine and say a toast to lifelong loves, and above all else, call Jimmy once in a while.

Vivian was my hero. She was beautiful, funny, brilliant and most of all kind. Her heart must have been filled with love — her eyes sparkled with joy. I’m glad I knew her if even just a long time ago and during those short years at SHS.

It was January, 1963. The middle of the 11th grade for us, and I was definitely the new kid. Did not think I would ever have another close friend, since I had left all of mine behind. After my first class this incredible girl walked up to me. "I hear you are from Australi"ť she said "śSay something in Australian" I laughed, she laughed and a friendship that would endure forever was born. Vivian was funny and friendly, inclusive and kind. She played hard, worked hard and loved unconditionally. I will carry her in my heart forever, and am a much better person for having known her. At the time, we didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun. But oh, the memories! Miss you Vivi.

Vivian was always so cheerful and fun to be around. She is being missed by so many, and my sympathies are with Jim and her family.

My heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beloved, Vivian. Please know that Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ is aware of your pain and they care for you. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) . I pray that you are able to find comfort in God's promise of paradise where there will be no more pain and sorrow (Revelation 21:4,5) and the many wonderful memories of your loved one becoming a reality in the future resurrection in paradise. (Acts 24:15). Please accept my sincere condolences.
