WATSON, JR., JOHN CLARE, 71 of Sebring, died August 16, 2011. John was a native of Sebring, graduate of Sebring High School, class of 1957. He attended Stetson University, St. Petersburg, FL. John joined the Highlands County Sheriffs Department in 1960 and served as a Bailiff retiring in December 2002 as a Sergeant He served in the United States Air Force in Greenland and June 1, 1962 he married Barbara Sue Sims his bride of 49 years. John was a founding member of Bible Fellowship and he enjoyed ranching and was a former member of Highlands County Cattlemens Association. The family wants to give a special thanks to Linda Quarles and Lee Lewellyn for their devotion to John. John is survived by his loving family, wife, Barbara Sue Watson; daughters, Sharon (Robert) Underwood, Murfreesboro, TN and Mary Beth (Paul) Przychocki; son, John (Gena) Watson all of Sebring; grandchildren, Zachary Frensley, Alexandria Frensley, John Underwood, Molly Underwood, Cody Reed Watson, Riley Beau Watson, Lacey Ann Watson, Meghan Williams, Stephen Williams, Ski Przychocki, Lisa Smiling, Tammy Przychocki, Thorsten Przychocki. Services will be 2:00 pm at Bible Fellowship Church, 3750 Hammock Road. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials are requested to the WOW Fund at Bible Fellowship or Good Shepherd Hospice,

I am pleased to have known Mr Watson a/k/a Papaw. We had some good conversations when he would visit me at the shop. He was strong willed, but had a tender heart for the Lord. He will be missed. But, this is not goodbye, but will see him one day again. God Bless and comfort the family.

Watson family: I've known John Watson for 63 years. His enduring patience, infectious laugh and spiritual wellness shine brightly. Remembrances: 1. Our senior year, John played right guard but never started a game. Last home game,the "Streaks" waited behind the goal posts, waiting for the P.A. announcer to call the starting lineup. The name "John Watson" blared into the Sebring night. However, John not expecting to be called, wasn't paying attention and consequently didn't run onto the field. I shook his shoulder and shouted, "You were called!" He grabbed his helmet, turned to sprint and ran into the goalpost. There was great mirth from the team and fans. 2. John was speeding (as usual) around the circle when he was 17. I was his passenger. Chief Lonnie Curl spotted us and started pursuit. John, who had a slight tendency to be a desperado, decided to out run the flashing lights. We roared toward the lake, turned left, left again, then left, went right, switched off the lights, eased into his backyard, stopped the motor, got out, and Curl, hiding in the bushes, said, "Stop right there, raise your hands." I do not remember the amount of the fine nor the punishment by his mother, Ida. John was a good guy, always loyal to me and those are the people remembered as I slide into senility and sentiments.
